Touched — An abstract, analog exploration of touch based on a material experiment with rice paper. An alien world emerges from the everyday material, exploring the relationship between touch and non-touch, physical intimacy and rigidity, aliveness and stillness.
Touched takes up the traditional Vietnamese drying process by stretching wet rice paper over various hands and handprints, allowing them to dry, and manipulating them. The result are three-dimensional sculptures of various shapes and structures that are at once disgusting and attractive.
